Wound Debridement

When a training nurse or physician removes dead tissue from the wound bed, it's called wound debridement. This is done to help speed up the wound healing process. Removing dead tissue prevents bacteria growth, which can cause infection. Dead tissue also slows the growth of healthy tissue. Dead tissue can be removed by cutting it or using an ointment, like Activon 100% Medical Grade Honey, or  Xeroform Petrolatum Dressing.
