Needles and Syringes
Choose from a variety of syringe and needle sizes for your hormone therapy, insulin shots, b12 shots, or other injection therapies. If you're new at this, you'll want to know what needle and syringe size you need. You can follow these three basic principles when selecting the needle and syringe size.
1. Selecting the right needle gauge
Needle gauge indicates the thickness of the needle. The solution your injecting may require a larger size to draw the solution (rx medication) into the syringe.
2. Selecting the right needle length
The needle length will vary based on the type of injection: where on your body it will be injected. For example, injections into the shoulder will likely need a shorter needle then an injection going into the thigh muscle.
3. Choosing the size syringe you need
If you are injecting medication without professional help (at home), be sure to choose a syringe that will hold the dose your doctor has prescribed. Syringe measurements come in milliliters (ml) and/or cubic centimeters (cc). Whichever is listed on the product, know that 1 cc is equal to 1 ml.
** Always talk to your doctor about the proper needle and syringe needed for your injection therapy. *
